New Chairman of the Energy Industry Council Elected
The Energy Industry Council elected Mr. Ibrahim Halil Kılıç of AYEN Energy Trading as its new Chairman, succeeding Mr. Silvio Pedrazzi. His appointment comes as Albania advances its National Energy Strategy and aligns the Renewable Energy Law with EU standards.

Business Environment in Albania, From a Foreign Investor Perspective
FIAA joined the Albania–Canada ITS Market Overview Session with the Canadian Embassy in Tirana. Third Renewable Energy Conference: Strategic Pathways to 2030
FIAA hosted the third edition of its flagship conference, “Renewable Energy in Albania: Strategic Pathways to 2030.” Five sessions addressed regulatory readiness, grid flexibility, market development, and CBAM implementation. High-level speakers included Minister Enea Karakaci, EU Delegation Head Ritva Heikkinen, and Energy Community Deputy Head Marie-Therese Richter-Kuhnert, all affirming Albania’s strong position in the Green Transition.

Energy Law Consultation
The draft law No. 43/2015 “On Power Sector” has been under consultation with stakeholders, with two roundtables held on 19 March and 8 April, organized by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy. Minister Enea Karakaçi participated in the second roundtable, underscoring the government’s commitment to inclusive reform dialogue.

Ongoing Consultations within the European Partnership Platform
As a member of the Partnership Platform for European Integration (PPIE), FIAA participated in consultations coordinated by the Ministry of Economy and Innovation (Chapters 1, 6, 20) and the Ministry of Finance (Chapters 16, 32, 33) — covering areas from company law and taxation to financial control and free movement of goods. FIAA contributed recommendations on draft laws and regulatory changes, reinforcing the private sector’s voice in Albania’s EU integration process.

FIAA & HEPA Sign Memorandum of Understanding
FIAA President Balázs Révész and HEPA Director Dr. Aron Littvay-Kovacs signed a Memorandum of Understanding formalizing bilateral cooperation. The agreement covers best-practice exchanges, joint trade promotion events, and reciprocal business delegations between Albania and Hungary.

Presentation of Economic Monitor Albania
FIAA presented the latest findings of the German Economic Team (GET) at a roundtable attended by the World Bank, IMF, and UN. Key highlights: tourist arrivals reached ~11 million in 2025 (up from 5.2M in 2021), GDP growth hit 3.8%, and FDI stood at 6.0% of GDP. The Albanian lek appreciated 22% since 2021, keeping inflation at 2.6%. Participants called for stronger industrial investment strategies beyond tourism and real estate.

EU Reform Agenda & Private Sector Preparedness Roundtable
In cooperation with CDI, FIAA hosted a roundtable on Albania’s EU Reform Agenda, bringing together the Head of EU Cooperation, the Deputy Minister of Economy, and SASPAC. Albania’s EU Growth Plan includes 31 reforms, 19 of which directly affect the private sector. Despite 98% of foreign investors expressing interest in EU accession benefits, compliance obligations remain poorly understood. Key recommendations: clearer feedback mechanisms, standardized regulatory enforcement, and measurable VAT and SAF-T milestones.

Western Balkans Regular Economic Report — Issue No. 29
The World Bank Group launched its biannual Western Balkans Regular Economic Report (RER) at a dedicated event in Tirana, providing an assessment of recent economic developments and the medium-term outlook across the region.
Key highlights: combined GDP growth for Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Serbia is forecast at 2.8% in 2026, slightly below earlier projections, with a modest pickup to 3.2% in 2027.
