FIAA Board of Directors meets with the Minister of State for the Protection of Entrepreneurship in the premises of FIAA 

On March 5th the Board of Directors of FIAA had their regular Meeting during which they meet with the New Minister of State for Protection of Entrepreneurship in Albania, Mr. Eduard Shalsi. The Board welcomed Mr. Shalsi in the premises of FIAA and addressed to him different obstacles that the Foreign Investors are facing in Albania. FIAA Annual Meeting 2019

Foreign Investor Association in Albania hold the Annual Assembly Meeting during the evening of March 20th at Mak Albania Hotel. During the Meeting, the Chairman of FIAA Mr. Larsen addressed some words by highlighting the main achievements and challenges FIAA had during the 2018. FIAA Representatives of Mining Committee meet with the Deputy Minister of Industry in Albania

A delegation of FIAA representatives from the Mining Industry has meet with the Deputy Minister for Energy and Industry Mr. Aliko to discuss on the current situation of the mining industry. The talks were mainly focused on the recent changes presented in the New Fiscal Package for the increase of Excise Tax in bituminous coal and related articles which do fiercely affect the ongoing activity of the companies operating in this sector....Read more


FIAA Wishes Ceremony for a Prosperous Business Year 2019  

Early this year, FIAA hold its yearly ceremony “Wishes for a Prosperous Business Year ahead”! Roundtable on VAT Reimbursement Strategy and Informality in 2019

Ministry of Finance and Economy in cooperation with the Secretariat of Albania Investment Council held an open discussion with businesses from the sectors of agri-processing, active inward processing regime (fason regimeand export with regard to the 2019 VAT Reimbursement Strategy and the Fight against Informality. Colliers International brokers new deal for a Hyatt Regency hotel in Albania

The Hyatt Regency Tirana will mark continued growth for Hyatt in Southeast Europe. Advised by Colliers International’s UK Hospitality Asset Management team and the local Colliers office in Albania, Hyatt Hotels Corporation has announced a management agreement with Kastrati Hotels & Tower for the first Hyatt-branded hotel in Albania.
Takuya Aoyama, Vice President of Development, Hyatt, said: “Albania is one of the fastest growing economies in Europe and we are thrilled to announce plans for a hotel in Tirana, a city that has undergone real transformation in recent years. With a prime location in the country’s capital, the hotel will appeal to both business travellers and those looking to experience the cultural sights of the city.” 
The Hyatt Regency Tirana is expected to open in late 2019.

Statkraft is developing a floating solar plant in Albania

Statkraft Albania obtained a preliminary approval from Albanian authorities for the development of a floating Photovoltaic Plant of 2 MW capacity on Banja HPP reservoir

The project is aiming to be part of Statkraft’s R&D program for floating solar. The PV project proposal is a contemporary technological solution, which will enable saving of land and exploitation of the water surface of Banja reservoir.

Statkraft has entered into an agreement with Norwegian floating solar technology developer Ocean Sun AS for the delivery of this floating solar plant.

Raiffeisen Bank Albania and EBRD supports agribusiness finance up to €35 million

Raiffeisen Bank Albania and the Albania Agribusiness Support Facility are joining forces to increase local farmers’ and agribusiness companies’ access to finance, especially in remote regions of the country. The EBRD, with the government of Albania, is supporting a portfolio of up to €35 million of eligible loans to the sector, risk-shared with its partner Raiffeisen Bank Albania. The instrument benefits from a First Loss Risk Cover contributed by the government of Albania.
