FIAA launched second edition of White Book Albania 2017- 2021

Very recently, FIAA launched the second edition of the White Book Albania 2017-2021. The launching took place during the Yearly Ceremony FIAA holds at the beginning of each year. Unlike every year, this time the launching was organized in full cooperation with the Minister of State for Protection of Entrepreneurship in Albania, a newly created institution in support of business. This event brought together a large part of the Foreign Business Community in Albania, representatives of the diplomatic bodies along with several representatives of the state institutions in the country. Read more


FIAA held the Annual Assembly Meeting 2018

In March 6th, FIAA held the Annual Assembly Meeting of the Members and conducted election process for three new Board Members including the Appointment of the Chairman of FIAA for the next two years to come. In his opening speech, the outgoing President of FIAA, Mr. Silvio Pedrazzi highlighted some of the main achievements and challenges he had during his Chairmanship of three years within FIAA and emphasized the importance of the Organization as the best Instrument for the Foreign Investors in Albania. FIAA Representatives in MSG meet with the Head of Albanian EITI Secretariat

On February 13th, the appointed FIAA representatives in the Multi-Stakeholder Group of Extractive Industry Transparency Initiative (EITI) met with the Head of Albanian EITI Secretariat, Mr. Ardit Kamberi .The aim of the meeting was to discuss on the perspectives of the objectives of EITI Secretariat and the role of the Private Sector in the process. Mr. Kamberi praised the commitment shown by the representatives of the companies in the EITI reporting process in Albania, considering this group as an essential pillar of the substantial triangular cooperation (Government Institutions, Companies and Civil Society) in the activity of the Albanian EITI. Friendly Albania towards Business Community

In frame of 100 days of work,  the newly created Ministry of State for Protection of Entrepreneurship organized  in December late a meeting with all groups of interest and business organizations  where was highlighted once more the role of this New Institution  focusing on the compilation of a Package of Concrete Proposals for improving Business Environment in Albania. In this ambit, Ms Marinela Jazoj, at the quality of Executive Director FIAA was a speaker in the Meeting Panel, during which she claimed the collaboration with the New Ministry, in particular its expected role in the publication of FIAA White Book Albania 2017-2021. Investment Council discussed the Functioning of the E-Permits Platform in the Framework of the Deregulation Reform

Albanian Investment Council held on 13th of February a Meeting chaired by the Minister of Finance and Economy, Mr Arben Ahmetaj. In the agenda of the meeting was the presentation of the main findings of the Secretariat on the functioning of the e-Permits Platform, as part of the Deregulation Reform, as well as the launching of the process for the preparation of the new unified law on investments by the International Finance Corporation (IFC).

Conference on Presentation of the EITI 2016 Report and Promotion of Transparency in Natural Resources Utilization in Albania

The Albanian Secretariat of Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) organized on February 28th, 2018 a Conference on “Presentation of the EITI 2016 Report and Promotion of Transparency in the Natural Resources Utilization in Albania”. The publication of the EITI 2016 Annual Report which aims at promoting Transparency in the Governance of Natural Resources in Albania, marks the conclusion of the National Secretariat’s annual activity and it is the result of the cooperation between MSG and Interest Groups. FIAA-s Executive Director, present in this Conference delivered a Message on the importance of the Transparency and Accountability of the use of Natural Resources of the Country as an important factor for the attraction of the Foreign Investors.

ALBtelecom Signed the Code of Conduct on Safer Internet Day

ALBtelecom is committed to support initiatives in the function of safe internet and in particular safer internet for children. National Authority for Electronic Certification and Cyber Security has launched an initiative to raise awareness and engage main actors in the telecommunication sector in support of safer internet. In this regards, a conference was organized marking Safer Internet Day, discussing the role of electronic communication companies in providing safe internet for children.

TAP Started Works on a 1.5 km Micro Tunnel in Albania

On 12 February 2018, the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP), organized a ceremony to mark the start of works for the 1.5-kilometre micro-tunnel, which will connect the east and the west segments of the pipeline in Albania. Skrapar’s landscape poses many challenges to the pipeline construction, given the mountainous heights, the geological composition and the difficult terrain with numerous steep slopes. The micro-tunnel will enable the pipeline to bypass the Osumi River and a new road. It is the safest and most environmentally friendly option for crossing this challenging mountainous segment.

TAP Donated 1,000 Cypress Tress to Plant in Tirana

On March 2018, the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) donated 1,000 cypress trees to the Municipality of Tirana to be planted in the capital’s Artificial Lake Park. The initiative aims to increase urban green space as well as enhance the quality of life of people living in the capital. This is the largest number of cypress trees that a company has ever donated to Tirana city.

FIAA’s Chairman has been officially appointed as a Business Member in the Albanian Investment Council for 2018 year

FIAA’s Chairman, for the third time has been officially appointed as a Business Member in the Albanian Investment Council. Investment Council is a platform aiming to support the creation of business enabling environment by promoting better diagnosis of investment climate problems and improved policy design and by strengthening the position of reformers within governments.The Albanian Investment Council stands for the most useful Platform in the Country which leads to real improvements in the dialogue between the private sector and the state authorities.


FIAA participated in the Hydropower Balkans Summit in Podgorica

The Executive Director of FIAA was invited as a speaker and Panel Moderator at the International summit “Hydropower Balkans” which was hold during November 15th-17th, 2017 in Podgorica. The Summit was a professional platform, bringing together major investors in the Energy Sector, Decision-makers of the leading hydropower plants and investment project initiators, as well as regulators, to consolidate efforts focused on efficient implementation of key projects for the construction and reconstruction of HPPs across the Balkan region.Read more


Tirana Bank supported the European Youth Parliament

The European Youth Parliament was organized in Albania for the 2nd year. This year, Tirana Bank was the main sponsor of this organization, in support of young people from all high schools in Albania who were part of the 2018 Tirana conference, held on February 16th-17th. 90 participants attended this event, 30 of whom were trainers, organizers, photographers, and the international jury. This event was organized by young people, for young people! Specialists from various fields were invited to help the debate and give information for the conference’s topics.

Albanian Deposit Insurance Agency selected Banka Kombëtare Tregtare as the First Agent Bank in the Preliminary List for the Deposit Compensation Process

Banka Kombëtare Tregtare (BKT) was ranked first in the short preliminary list of only 3 banks, selected from Albanian Deposit Insurance Agency (ADIA) as Agent Banks for carrying out the deposit compensation process. Following the process, BKT and ADIA have successfully finalized all the details and on 24 January 2018, BKT and ADIA signed the contract for the execution of the deposit process.
